University and College Pathways

The right choice for your future: English for college and university

Are you an international student who wants to study at a Canadian or American post-secondary institution? ALI’s Excellence Program assists students whose goal is to study in a North-American college or university. Students develop skills in academic reading and writing as well as acquire the necessary academic research and discussion skills required at the college/university level.

Work and Study in Canada

Studying in a college or university program in Canada means being legally eligible to work part-time and, after graduation, getting a post-graduation work permit of equal length to that of the program studied, for a maximum of 3 years (ex. 1 year program – 1 year post-graduation permit).

International students can cover their day-to-day expenses, and thus absorb some of the overall cost of their education. After graduation, they can work full-time and make up part of their initial investment. A Canadian degree might be more accessible than it seems at first glance.

Apply for Permanent Resident Status in Canada

Most programs in Quebec and Canada allow graduates to apply for permanent resident status, usually after one full year of post-graduation work. For more information, visit Quebec’s Immigration portal and Canada’s immigration portal.
